Groenen appointed as LSM’s head of portfolio solutions, Europe

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced the appointment of Rob Groenen as head of portfolio solutions, Europe, a newly created position.
Groenen will be based in the Netherlands and will also retain his current position as general manager of Benelux and Nordics.
He will continue to report to Pierre-Edouard Fraigneau, president and chief underwriting officer, Europe, LSM.
The head of portfolio solutions, Europe role brings affinity and program business (APB) and digital together, under one portfolio solutions operating model, which provides a one-stop shop for clients to access Liberty’s market-leading capabilities.
The approach will involve centralising and coordinating product and underwriting expertise, synchronising the distribution teams’ methods, and continuing to use local knowledge and skills through established regional partnerships.
In this new role, Groenen will be responsible for executing the business plan for Liberty’s delegated and digital operations across Europe. This involves guaranteeing high quality end-to-end performance, and building and maintaining strong relationships within the countries where the company operates in.
Fraigneau commented: “We are delighted that Rob will be taking on this new role. With his long tenure at Liberty, Rob has been integral to shaping the business we see in Europe today. Under his leadership, the portfolio solutions function will be able to readily deploy our ABP and digital capabilities to meet the needs of our clients across Europe.”
Groenen has been part of Liberty for almost 19 years, having joined the company in 2007 as country manager in the Netherlands.
Since then, he has been responsible for expanding the portfolio and footprint to offer multiclass offerings across the Nordics and Benelux.
