Global insurer Allianz has secured multi-year, AA-rated capacity via a partnership with Oaktree Capital Management L.P. which will see the investment manager establish a new reinsurance syndicate at the specialist Lloyd\u2019s insurance and reinsurance marketplace.<\/p>\n

\"new-allianz-logo\"Syndicate 1890 will commence underwriting from January 1st, 2026, and will participate as a multi-year partner on Allianz\u2019s outwards reinsurance programme.<\/p>\n

The new syndicate enables Allianz to take advantage of the increased appetite of capital markets for insurance risks and access to third-party capital.<\/p>\n

Oaktree brings extensive expertise and a track record of investing in the re\/insurance space, and will both fund Syndicate 1890 and act as investment manager for its assets. The London Bridge 2 Protected Cell Company (PCC) was used for funding the new syndicate.<\/p>\n

Thorsten Fromhold, Chief Group Reinsurance Officer, Allianz SE Reinsurance, said: \u201cAllianz\u2019s underwriting portfolio is marked by its quality and diversity, making it a strong candidate for strategic reinsurance partnerships. The launch of this Lloyd\u2019s syndicate highlights the strength of the portfolio we are ceding and our consistent approach to reinsurance, which is an important contributor to Allianz\u2019s resilience.<\/p>\n

The Lloyd\u2019s structure, notes Allianz, offers both operational efficiencies and flexibility for future growth, which supports the re\/insurer\u2019s continued growth and innovation in risk transfer.<\/p>\n
