Lloyd’s hires Stephane Flaquet from Hiscox as Chief Operating Officer
Lloyd’s, the world’s oldest insurance and reinsurance marketplace, has named Stephane Flaquet as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), signalling the end of his 15-year tenure at global re/insurer Hiscox.
Flaquet joins Lloyd’s on September 1st, 2025, and will become a member of the Lloyd’s Executive Team, reporting directly to Patrick Tiernan, who recently took over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the London-based marketplace.
As COO, Flaquet will lead the Lloyd’s operations function to deliver services to both the market and Corporation, and is tasked with delivering the market’s operations strategy, including managing the technology, data and change portfolio. Additionally, the new COO will spearhead the Corporation’s work on improving the operational resilience of the market infrastructure, as well as all Blueprint Two related activity.
He takes over from George Marcotte, who has served as Interim COO since September 2024, and brings three decades of industry experience to the role, having worked at Hiscox since 2010 in a variety of roles, most recently as Group Chief Operations and Technology Officer. Earlier in his career, Flaquet held senior roles at global insurer AIG and Capital One.

Stephane’s experience will be integral to delivering operational excellence, flexibility and scalability to the Corporation and the market.
